The Walk

Please follow direction signs and marshalls' instructions at all times.

Please arrive just ahead of your allotted time.

The tented village registration area, is adjacent to the start line at the Seabank Road area KA7 1JE directly south of the Citadel Sports Centre.

At the point of registration you will be issued with your recyclable water bottle and poncho which are yours to keep.

You will then walk at your own pace along the stunning Ayr Promenade, heading south, keeping near to the sea wall or walking on the beach if you prefer, for approximately 3km.
The turnaround point, the half way point in your walk, is near the mouth of the beautiful River Doon. Here you can kick of your shoes, treat your blisters and take in one of the most painted seascapes in Scotland.

Much more importantly, you will see a demonstration of the Aquabox pump, the little pump for which you are raising funds, and hopefully try it for yourselves. With a few pumps set up we hope everyone who wants to will get a chance to use a pump for themselves.

You will then return along the promenade to the finish line where you started.

Remember this is not a race! Take as long as you wish, and maybe make more than one trip. But whatever you do, enjoy yourself and please raise as much money as you can.

LATE ENTRY

Late entry will only be accepted with a card payment. No cash please.

TOILETS
There are public toilets at the Pavilion KA7 1EQ and also at Seafield Ayr KA7 4AB

WEATHER

It never rains in Scotland of course, but sometimes the air is quite strong and damp, so you should wrap up really warm before you come. It is May after all!

The walking surface is paved and flat and is suitable for wheelchairs for its entire length.

Sensible shoes are the order of the day for those walking, of course. Stilettoes are definitely not recommended, unless perhaps you are taking part in the Fancy Dress section!.
